Application Development Engineering / Composites Technology Manager – Wyandotte, MI (1900021)
Where the Chemistry Happens
We are seeking a Manager like you to lead the Application Development Engineering and Composites Development teams in Performance Materials (PM). This team is comprised of 9 Application Development Engineers, who work with customers, marketing and sales to develop new growth applications across all PM product lines (such as automotive seating, cross-car beams, powertrain, electrical, and chassis components, appliance, furniture, lawn and power equipment, consumer goods, material handling, etc) and 2 Composites Development Engineers, who develop PU- and EP-based composite technologies (such as sprayed honeycomb panels, pultrusion, tapes and laminates). These teams have spanning responsibilities to develop customer applications supporting all 4 PM business areas, supporting high-value new business opportunities prioritized by marketing using our C2C process.
Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent
Formula for Success
Leveraging your experience in the plastics / urethanes / composites industry, you will lead this technical team to develop and deliver innovative technical solutions in design, material selection and process technology; you will also provide technical support to the Sales Account Managers, Market Segment Leaders, and R&D teams
Your ability to lead high performing teams within and across highly matrixed organizations will serve you well as you set goals and objectives to align the team in support of growth targets, applications and markets
You will manage the budget and priorities to meet or exceed the business plans
Your project and program management experience will be valuable as you drive efficiencies and determine the resource allocations and priorities to support customers in providing the best in class service and added value for BASF customers
You will coordinate global technical support with our BASF colleagues for US customers who need global support and translate knowledge to global colleagues to help drive continued growth in new applications
Recognized as an expert in related plastic disciplines (such as materials, design, CAE and polymer processing), we will rely on your expertise in application development, technical service, R&D and technical marketing
