We are seeking a Technical Application Laboratory Chemist for our Colors & Effects subsidiary and who can bring colorful technical pigment solutions to our customers by completing hands-on application work on technical service projects for existing and new products to support growth with our customers.

This new global business unit focuses on the pigments business and even more specifically, is focused on supporting the needs of our pigments customers. Creating an organization fully dedicated to pigments allows BASF to adapt better to the challenges in the pigments industry.

The portfolio comprises of color pigments such as phthalocyanines, high performance pigments, azo pigments, effect pigments, inorganic pigments, dyes and pigment. Technical Application Laboratory Chemist - GBU Pigments (1701228)
You will be part of the Application Laboratory Team in the Technical Service group that provides customer support for the industries Coatings, Plastics, Printing & Specialties. In addition to hands-on application work, you may coordinate lab work with other Application Laboratory Technicians and Chemists, taking general direction/collaboration with Technical Specialists, and be responsible for equipment, SOP/JSA, and writing reports. You will report to the Technical Team Leader.
Formula for Success: You Will
Conduct under guidance technical comparison of BASF products vs. competitive products in industry-specific application tests (proactive to determine value proposition and reactive in case of customer request) and provides others with respective results/analyses/path forward.
Perform technical application tests of products for troubleshooting to derive product recommendations and/or formulation recommendations by using multiple product lines of the portfolio and for support of growth opportunities and recommendation of next steps.
Handle complaints and complaint management (production &/or customer): Performs technical testing and assessment of individual products via application testing and other analysis, providing others with respective results/analyses and recommendation of next steps.
Organize R&D application testing, results, data of new product evaluation, formulation support and recommendation of next steps especially for products entering commercialization phase.
Ensure and work in compliance with EH&S and ISO standards [minimum expectation].
