The Controls Engineer will be based in Buffalo Grove, Illinois and will be responsible for developing, improving, and maintaining automation controls solutions to support automated manufacturing for a high-volume consumer products application.
Here is a glimpse of what you’ll do…
Core member of automation engineering team will execute and lead projects with guidance from the Lead Automation Engineer.
Interface with a variety of automated equipment and drive controls solutions to eliminate defects, improve cycle times, reduce machine downtime.
Develop equipment controls requirements and specifications.
Design, engineer, and qualify complex automation controls solutions and applications.
Collaborate with cross-functional team to identify root cause of production issues and develop creative solutions to resolve.
Follow and execute change management process when implementing new controls solutions or modification/refurbishment to existing controls solutions.
Participate in equipment design reviews.
Prepare and maintain documentation related to the operation of the automation equipment.
Collaborate with Automation Technicians to identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities.
Here is some of our required experiences…
BS Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics.
Minimum 5 years hands-on experience designing, deploying, and/or maintaining high-speed automated assembly, filling, and packaging equipment.
Self-motivated individual works well both independently and in a cross-functional team setting.
Ability to effectively communicate and interface with customers, upper management, peers, and direct reports.
Hands-on individual with excellent mechanical aptitude, problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
Working knowledge and competence in PLC, HMI, robot control, and servo control programming.
Working knowledge and competence in vision system and vision tool development.
Understanding of control wiring.
Experience with engineering tools including design review, FMEA, DFA/DFM, and similar tools.
Here is some of our preferred experiences…
Experience with high-volume automation applications in the medical device, food, beverage, or electronics industries.
Experience with SCADA-based production control systems.
Experience with automation simulation software.
